Your comments are the best indicator of our performance, so we
here at EX urge you to keep that e-mail coming. Rest assured that
we do read all the mail that we get.

From: Jose Luis Meza Garc’a (lobor@geocities.com)
Dear EX staff,
I'm sure
you have already heard this, but I wanted to tell you that your
magazine is great, it has many sections, and it has new information every
month. I wanted to tell you this because I have a
page in the Web, and I appreciate very much if someone sent me a letter,
that way I know that my hours doing my page have been well spent; I know you
feel that way too. I wanted to know if you can't make a list of all the
Anime television series that have been made, I know that it won't be able
for the next three or four months, but I'd like if you can make it sometime
and put it in your magazine. One last thing, in your games section could you
put video games about anime, like MAGIC KNIGHT RAYEARTH
for the Saturn.
If you
keep doing the magazine like you have been doing it, soon many more
persons will read it.
Lots of friendship :)
Keep animeing!!!!

Jose,
Thanks for the words of support; I have to say that we all like to know what
our readers are thinking.
Your
first request is a pretty hefty one; compiling a list of all the anime
television series that have been made is a very tall order indeed! I know
that only a small percentage of television anime becomes popular with fans
outside of Japan, so a large number of shows are never seen outside of
Japan. This would be a project we would have to tackle slowly.
As
for our video games section, it originally started out as anime-related,
but let's face it, a lot of video games are good regardless. Plus, the
number of anime-related video games that are easily obtainable is not always
easy. Still, we are working hard at having more anime-related game reviews
in future issues. Look for reviews of the first Evangelion game for Saturn
(a second is already in the works) and the new Gundam Gaiden (for Saturn) in
the next issue or two.
The domestic
version of the Rayearth game, as I understand it, has been
delayed yet again and will not be released until second quarter of 1997.

Folks---I wandered across your online magazine by accident.
I
read the 3rd issue and I have to say that I am just in awe of the
tremendous job you've done. The sheer volume of information is
overwhelming. To put it concisely, you've given me valuable information
that I didn't even know I was looking for. :)
You've
truly done the anime community a service...but you need to promote
yourselves more! Good luck, and keep up the good work.

 |
Matt,
Thanks for the vote of confidence. And I agree that EX
really does need a
higher visibility on the web. While we are listed in various anime
resources on the web, I think we could do a lot better. Publicity is
something that needs to be constantly worked on, and I have to say that
sometimes due to other considerations it falls towards the bottom of the
priority list.
If
any of our readers have any ideas for publicity, we encourage you to
submit them. And if you are interested in including a link to
EX from your
site, please feel free to do so. We'll even provide you with a graphic.
(It can't get much easier than that!)

From: Kwesi Ako Kennedy (kakenned@unity.ncsu.edu)
If at all possible, I would like to ask if I could get any more detailed
information about what the duties of a producer for animation (or any other
type of visual media) involve.
I throughly enjoyed David Ho's article on production work and am curious to
learn more in detail. If you do not have information, would it be possible
for you to put me in contact with Mr. Ho so I could ask him for further
details about his profession and what it may require to get started.
Thank You.

 |
Kwesi,
I have forwarded your mail to Dave directly. I am sure that he will be
happy to provide you with more information. If there is enough interest, I
am sure that we can ask Dave to do a follow-up article and provide us with
more of the daily chores of the Independent Producer.

Dear EX,
Thank
you so much for providing an exceptional online magazine for fans of
Anime. Your issues always exude a feeling of sophistication and polish not
found even in most nationally recognized magazines. The articles provide an
invaluable guide for any anime fan, and has proved to be consistently
accurate in its reviews. Thank you again for the incredible effort your
staff has put forth. And, I'm sure my sentiments are shared by all who
peruse your wonderful magazine.
|
 |
J.H.,
Since you didn't sign your name, I'll address you by your initials. I hope
that's all right.
What
can I say, other than thank you for such eloquent praise. We try very
hard, and I really believe that we are appreciated by our readers. E-mail
like yours and the others we've received reinforces this opinion.
I'd
like to once again wish all of our readers the happiest of holidays.
Keep reading and writing!

Letter Contest

Keep that e-mail coming. We still have a lot of DRAGONBALL Z
cards to give away! These cards were donated by Books Nippan and are special
hologram cards mounted on a cardboard backing. These cards are
unavailable for purchase in the United States, so these are truly unique
items.
Keep in mind that
"best" is a subjective thing, and totally subject to the whims of the
Editors. Flattery will not necessarily make you a winner. I can't give
you specifics as to what will make you a winner, but I can share with
you the sure-fire ways to get disqualified:
- WRITE IN UPPER CASE. This will guarantee immediate rejection.
- fail to use capital letters at the start of sentences or when using words
like ranma and macross.
- Use inane words and phrases such as 'Ranma sucks' or 'Robotech rocks'.
- Use punctuation in an inappropriate and outlandish fashion !!!!??????
- one-liners such as "Your mag rocks, gimme the cards!" will be disqualified
immediately.
- Profanity and personal attacks will also wind up in the trashcan.
In general, it's best that you have something to say. So let's hear from
you!
Our Mail Policy:

We read all of the mail we receive. Readers who submit mail may receive
personal replies via e-mail, a reply in the letter column, or in some
instances, both.
All letters sent to
EX (or any of its staff regarding the magazine) are eligible for
inclusion in the letter column. Letters may be edited for clarity and
brevity. If you don't want your e-mail address printed, please tell us.
If you would prefer that your letter not be published at all, please
inform us of this as well. |
