EX HOLIDAY STAFF PICKS
CD Picks

Charles: For gifts, most of the JNA/JVC DOMESTIC CD RELEASES would be good choices, especially MEMORIES or RECORD OF LODOSS WAR, although I personally want the (import) RURONI KENSHIN Songs CD.

Keith: SHIN KAITEI GUNKAN (Import). One word: "Epic." By the people responsible for the GIANT ROBO soundtrack, this soundtrack packs the same depth and oomph.

Chad: SILENT MÖBIUS VOL 1. So I'm stuck in the past...or rather, stuck on SAILING, a really different song that I can, and have, listened to for over an hour straight! (OK, so in that particular case I can blame cel paint fumes...)

Peter: TENCHI MUYO VOL 1. I just love that opening theme. Actually, now that I've thought of it, I might have to buy this. I could sell some plasma...

Roderick: MAISON IKKOKU BEST COLLECTION. Until two years ago, MAISON IKKOKU music fans searching for vocals were stuck with collecting hordes of discs each with only a minuscule number of vocal tracks. Then, in late 1994, Kitty, at long last, released a disc with more than five vocals! In fact, there's an even ten. Throw in eleven of the best BGM instrumentals and a beautiful art book, and get not only the best MI disc, but also one of the best anime CDs.

Eugene: I'm not much in to anime soundtracks or BGM's; I'm more of a vocal man. And the one song that I'm looking for is YUZURENAI NEGAI, the opening theme from MAGICAL KNIGHT RAYEARTH. From what I hear, it's only available in its original form as a CD single by the original singer, or on SM CD's.

Ken: THE X MOVIE SOUNDTRACK (Import): One of the first official X movie-related products to be released to the general public, the soundtrack will certainly whet the appetites of rabid CLAMP fans. With haunting original background music, this CD will certainly raise one's blood pressure until relieved by the actual movie's release (on video) in March 1997.

Mark: KODOMO NO OMOCHA TV SOUNDTRACK (Import): I'm still searching for it, as I've gotta get that alarm clock theme and the ending vocal.

Maria: FUSHIGI YUUGI OST (Import) The best pick of the four FUSHIGI YUUGI CDs available, it has the extended opening and ending songs, as well as a lot of the BGMs from the TV series--including Tamahome's fighting music.

Chris: MACROSS PLUS ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK II. The second stateside CD release of this soundtrack is a collection of all types of interesting and creative works from the talented Kanno Yoko. With 15 tracks, you'll get your money's worth. And it's a steal at under 14 dollars!

Eugene Moon: EVANGELION SOUNDTRACKS. Yeah, the multitudinous versions of FLY ME TO THE MOON on volume 3 will drive you batty, but it's a good CD otherwise.
