Iwao Junko belts it out on stage.
The Bandai Visual Emotion Festival actually began at 2:10 or so, giving fans an opportunity to buy laser discs and CDs in the lobby. There were also character goods available for GUNDAM WING and MAHOU TSUKAI TAI!, and preorders were being taken for CLAMP's X movie. After a bit of rabid shopping by the crowds, the event officially started.
The crowd settled in. As the applause began to die down, the lights did as well. After a short pause, the opening sequence to the first MAHOU TSUKAI TAI! OVA played on a large screen. After about a minute, the music to the opening theme, "Senobi wo Shite FOLLOW YOU," began to play, and the voice actresses for the three lead females, Konishi Hiroko (Sawanoguchi Sae), Iizuka Mayumi (Nakatomi Nanaka) and Iwao Junko (Aikawa Akane) came out onto the stage, singing the song to a very appreciative crowd.
After the song, the three voice actresses proceeded to do an on-stage "radio show," complete with "stage ninjas" behind them, holding up effect cards (beads of sweat, etc.). Midway through this performance, the voice actresses sang a medley of old magical girl show themes.
When the radio show ended, the hostess came onto the stage and introduced the three voice actresses again, then proceeded to show a short video of MAHOU TSUKAI TAI!. Sarou Junichi, the director, and Itou Ikuko, the character designer, thanked all of the fans for supporting MAHOU TSUKAI TAI!. Hiroko noticed that two girls in the audience were dressed up as Sae and Akane, and the hostess invited them onto stage for a bit. After a bit of chitchat, the girls went back into the audience, and the MAHOU TSUKAI TAI! people (voice actresses and creators) went backstage again.
Next was a video message from E.M.U. (Midorikawa Hikaru, Okiayu Ryoutarou, Hayashi Nobutoshi, Ishikawa Hideo and Sakaguchi Daisuke), who also thanked the fans for being supportive, and asked them to come to their upcoming concert (which they were practicing for just before the video). As the message ended, the host spoke for a bit about GUNDAM WING before showing the new GUNDAM WING OVA, ENDLESS WALTZ.
After another video message by Nishimura Chinami, Asada Yohko, the voice actress for Alice in the game ALICE IN CYBERLAND (released by Glams, for the Playstation) came onto stage and talked about the game for a bit before she sang the opening theme to the game, "TotteOki no HEARTBEAT TIME".
At this point there was a fifteen minute intermission. Once the intermission ended and everyone was back in the seats, they introduced the second host, who introduced the "Fourteen years of Emotion Video" Medley video, highlighting some of Emotion's more popular titles, including WINGS OF HONNEAMISE, AURA BATTLER DUNBINE, MOBILE POLICE PATLABOR, MACROSS PLUS, SPACE CRUISER YAMATO, MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM and more.
Following this was Bandai's "Top Fifty Commercial Countdown," where they showed a few seconds of each commercial. After the first thirty, they played another video message, this one from Iwanaga Tatsuya and Mitsuishi Kotono (the voice actors fromTETSUWAN BIRDY). Ten more commercials later, a video message from Oshii Mamoru and another from the directors of the FUSHIGI YUUGI OVAs were shown, followed by another message from E.M.U. Finally, they unveiled the top ten commercials, number one of which was for PATLABOR. A video message from the cast of TAIHO SHICHAUZO finished off this section of the festival.
After a short introduction by the hosts, a preview for the MACROSS DIGITAL MISSION VF-X Playstation game was shown, as well as video messages from Kawai Mori, Namiki Noriko, Hayashibara Megumi, Imai Yuka, and Suzuki Masami.
As the festival came close to the ending time, the hosts began to announce the quiz game, when Matsumoto Rika interrupted them with a loud "Matte!". She announced that she wanted to give the audience "power" for the quiz game, so she, along with back dancers, sang a "Ganba" song. Once the song was done, Iizuka Mayumi and Konishi Hiroko came back out to help with the game, which was a "maru/batsu" (true or false) game. After they decided the winners, they showed a short clip of a new anime called "Aika".
After another game to decide which part of the audience would win a special phone card, and a final game to decide which audience member would recieve a special prize, they brought all of the guests back out for farewell messages and the "Bandai" song.
