I'S
by Masakazu Katsura
started #19, 1997—6 volumes available

Overview: In the latest turn of events, Itsuki left for the States, and Iori slapped Ichitaka for making moves on her.
In #35: Ichitaka's self-esteem stayed a low for the remainder of the video shoot. At the sophomore welcoming party, Ichitaka asks Takezawa to take care of Itsuki. Months pass, and summer arrives. Teratani tells Ichitaka that he is taking friends to Izu for a "study trip", and that Iori is coming along with them. Ichitaka swears he won't go, but two days later he stands in front of the lodge.
In #36: Ichitaka drools over the fan-service shots as he looks for his friends. He hears them talking, and while wondering how to face Iori the group finds him—and Iori isn't there. He declines their offer to go eat lunch with them, and walks off to the shore where he notices a girl standing on a rock. He sneezes, surprising the girl. The girl apparently is looking for something, and Ichitaka, feeling bad, asks if anything was wrong—and his heart starts to race.
In #37/38: The girl tells Ichitaka that she was looking for a ring from her boyfriend. Ichitaka dives into the water, fully clothed, and finds the ring. The girl takes the ring, and to Ichitaka's surprise, throws the ring away. Ichitaka, in awe, gets hit by a wave and scratches his leg. The girl takes the ribbon in her hair to wrap around the wound. They then introduces themselves. The girl, Izumi Isozaki, smiles to Ichitaka, saying that she feels like she'll see him again now that she knows his name.

RUROUNI KENSHIN
by Nobuhiro Watsuki
started #19, 1994—21 volumes available

Overview: Kenshin Himura is a swordsman with the dark past who fights with his reverse-blade sword against evil in the Meiji era. In the current story arc, Enishi (the brother of the late Tomoe) claims he will avenge his sister's death with Kenshin's head.
In #35: Kaoru is told that Enishi will attack her if things go against him. She replies that she had to stay there for Kenshin, and cheers him on. Enishi attacks an airborne Kenshin, who rebounds off the hot-air balloon to clean-hit Enishi with Kuzu Ryusen. Enishi still stands; the bystanders realize only Amakakeru Ryu no Hirameki will stop Enishi.
In #36: Enishi taunts Kenshin to use Amakakeru Ryu no Hirameki. The crowds wait, with some fear of something in Enishi that the others, not even Shishio, had. Enishi asks if Tomoe is smiling inside Kenshin's heart; Kenshin replies that she will smile when all of this is over. Kenshin steps in for Amakakeru Ryu no Hirameki, and Enishi counters with his Kofuku Zettousei attack.
In #37/38: Kenshin falls from a wound—the same wound that Kenshin gave Tomoe that fateful day. Enishi stands, still unscathed. A smoke cloud is released upon the gallery, and Enishi walks towards Kaoru. Enishi's true revenge was not to kill Kenshin, but to kill the one that he cares about the most—Kaoru. Kenshin stands up and manages to land a punch on Enishi, saying that he will not allow that even if Tomoe is on Enishi's side.

JIGOKU SENSEI NU-BE-
(Hell Teacher Nube)
story by Shou Makura, art by Takeshi Okano
started #38, 1993—25 volumes available

Overview: Meisuke Nueno, known as Nu-be-, is a teacher with strong psychic powers and the left hand of an oni (Japanese devil). He uses his Buddhism knowledge and sometimes his oni hand to protect his students. His "weird" friends include Yukime the snow-queen, Tamamo the nine-tailed werefox, and Izuna, a shaman-to-be.
In #35: A figure, who calls herself Death, tells Meisuke that he only has 24 hours left to live. Sensing that she wasn't lying, Meisuke uses his powers to win big in horse racing and starts spending. Realizing that wasn't what he wanted to do, he "pretends" to comes on to Yukime (and gets kicked out of the room and wishes her the best from outside), gives Tamamo his crystal, tells Izuna to train herself in her dreams, and gives guardian angels to everyone in his class. His students sense something is wrong, and when they find him near the river, he bids farewell and dies of a heart attack.
In #36: A week after Meisuke's death, an underclassman comes to the Nu-be- class to say that Agyou-san appeared on campus. The class kids investigate, and find nothing—but Agyou-san appears behind them. The kids get trapped on campus, and neither Yukime or Tamamo can defeat Agyou-san. At that point, the kids realize that Agyou-san makes the opposite of whatever they say into reality. Hiroshi cries that they were going to die, that Nu-be- was dead and couldn't help them. Agyou-san turns this into a lie, and sure enough, Meisuke comes down the corridor and turns Agyou-san into bits with his oni hand.
In #37/38: Another dimensional crack appears at Doumori Elementary, and a beautiful demon appears asking where her panties are. Hiroshi and Katsuya do no good in helping (they peep in the girls' locker room)... so Minki the demoness casts a spell that dissolves everyone's clothes except their underwear. Minki bumps into Meisuke, where she reveals that she is the sister of the oni in Meisuke's hand. Then she finds the burly Mr. Ishikawa wearing her panties.

Overview: The adventures of Hareluya Hibino, the "invincible man" whose back seemingly carries a serious arsenal of weapons, and his friends Makoto Ichijyou (a rocker), Kiyoshirou Okamoto (an aspiring artist), and Michiru Yamana (Kiyoshirou's girlfriend). In the latest story arc, Kiyoshirou decides to go to France to study art, and Michiru decides to take him on a trip to Kyoto with Hareluya and Makoto. But trouble strikes wherever Hareluya goes...
In #35: The four chase the camera thief trio to an underground hallway. Makoto attacks, but gets hit with a body blow. Hareluya jumps in. The big guy attacks Hareluya with a sword, but the sword is batted out of his hands. Michiru cries to Hareluya and Makoto to stop fighting because this trip was for Kiyoshirou. Cops arrive at the scene, and they recognize the thieves. The thieves run with a comment: "The night has just begun."
In #36: The cops explain to the kids that the thief group, Three Eyes, was well-known for its violent activity. Michiru tells the group that she doesn't care about her camera, that she wants to spend the time they have together having fun. They arrive at their lodge, eat, and take a bath.   In #37/38: While the three boys go out into the night to find Three Eyes, Michiru is attacked by the leader-type of Three Eyes, and is taken away. Kiyoshirou, thinking he heard Michiru on the way out, decides to go back to the lodge. Makoto and Hareluya follow, and when they got back to their room, they found their room decorated with the Three Eyes' symbol—and they run out into the night, fearing for Michiru's safety...

JOJO NO KYUMYOU NA BOUKEN
(JOJO'S BIZARRE ADVENTURES)
by Hirohiko Araki
started #1/2, 1987—59 volumes available

Overview, part V (started #52, 1995): Giorno is an aspiring gangster in Italy. He joins a gang filled with strange people (you guessed it, Stand users). His first big job is to rescue the Boss's daughter Trish, and bring her back to him. But the job became much more than that...
In #35: Giorno stopped the mold of Ciocolatta's Green Day, but still is unsure of the mad doctor's death. Giorno climbs up the vine to check, when Ciocolatta takes his severed hand against Mista's throat. Then, the bullet in Ciocolatta's head turns into a beetle (thanks to Gold Experience) and bursts through his skull. Giorno follows with the rush of punches so familiar to JOJO readers, and throws the body into the dump truck.
In #36: Ciocolatta's cel phone rings with no answer. Secco, worried, looks at his phone and listens to the two voice mail messages that Ciocolatta left him. Secco, hearing that Giorno's group is heading towards the Coliseum, starts to run; this alarms Pucharatti. Pucharatti throws a Sticky Fingers zipper towards Secco, but Secco twists the ground to have the zipper aim Pucharatti.
In #37/38: Secco continues to attack Pucharatti, but notices a light from the arch in the second floor of the Coliseum. Secco sees the glint from binoculars, a wheelchair, and a fake leg—and hurries to kill Pucharatti. Pucharatti uses his Stand to dive underground, while Secco poses to attack with his Stand Oasis—but Pucharatti doesn't surface. Secco realizes that Pucharatti went to the Coliseum, and decides to head over, thinking that only dead people can last this long underground.
