Sorcerer Hunters
—by Mark L. Johnson

Followup to the previous review in EX 4.1:

Perhaps a bit unusual for SORCERER HUNTERS, this volume's stories concentrate more on the main characters (specifically Carrot and Marron) than defeating evil magic users. This tape also starts to show some of the aspects I specifically liked about the series as it diverges from the "boss-of-the-week" stereotype more.
My favorite episode of the tape was "A Dreamy Girl at Lakeside", as it helps show that there is more to Carrot than blind-dumb girl chasing of Ataru (from URUSEI YATSURA) proportions. And the last episode on this tape, "Heresy of Love is Crystal", reinforces that not all assignments that the Sorcerer Hunters get are simply black and white.
The production values of these episodes are as good as ever, and the English dub does have its good moments along with its ugly. Of note I particularly liked a couple of Carrot's rants in the first episode on this tape.
This volume continues to hint as to the final test the heroes will face in the end, and starts to develop in such a way that I consider SORCERER HUNTERS to be more original than average. This is not to say Tira and Chocolate refrain from changing and whipping our main protagonist, or that Carrot's lust for girls has gone down any. If you liked the first tape from ADV, it only gets better.
