Followup to the previous review
in EX 1.x:
Way back in issue 1.x, we reviewed ADV's then new release
GALAXY FRÄULEIN YUNA. Now, like
many other companies, ADV is releasing some of their older, previously
un-dubbed titles in dubbed format.
YUNA is still as sugary and cute as ever,
and although it's a large group of cliches mashed into a packed 60 minutes,
it's still entertaining.
What's new here is the dubbing. It is reasonably well done, meaning that I
didn't wind up cringing while watching the video. However, this underscores
how difficult it can be to emote "cuteness" in English. Yuna's voice was
perhaps the best of the bunch, while the other characters came
across as too serious in spots. Some of the voices seemed so similar that
they blended together and it was hard to tell them apart.
If you prefer your anime dubbed and want a sample of how cute,
silly and over the top anime can be, GALAXY FRÄULEIN YUNA definitely fits
the bill. A must see for fans of IDOL PROJECT or
ICZELION.
