LETTERS

This is where EX shares some of its mail with the rest of its readers so that you, the fans, know what other fans are thinking.
We love to get mail from our readers. However, please remember that EX is not a store and we do not sell the merchandise we review. Check your local comic and hobby shops (and other places that carry anime items) if you're interested in purchasing any of these products. And, if all else fails, you can try some of the stores available online. But please don't ask us to sell things to you. (The mark up would be terrible.)
And to address another frequent request: no, we don't give out codes and cheats to games. However, starting this issue we will link the game reviews to corresponding FAQ pages at GameFaqs whenever possible. We hope this helps.
Thanks again, and keep those letters coming!

Goddess On A Mountaintop
From: Rodney Tsing

I have a quick question. A few years ago, I heard about the development of an AH! MY GODDESS movie. Do you have any news about this, or is the project dead? I haven't heard anything on it in a long time. I hope to god it isn't dead, AMG is my favorite series. Thanks.

Fear not, the A!MG movie is currently in production and is scheduled to be in theaters next year sometime. In the meantime, however, you will just have to be patient. No USA release for this movie has been announced at this time.

Where Are The Ninjas Hiding?
From: Jazze Moore

I enjoyed the movie NINJA SCROLL and was wondering if there is an sequel in development or any other films that are similar with the same high energy fights and graphics.

You ask a question that many people share. To date, there hasn't been a sequel to NINJA SCROLL. There are, however, several other shows about ninjas that may be to your liking. First is the classic YOTODEN, which was done in the mid 1980s. Although not as flashy as NINJA SCROLL, the story is still great and the animation is beautiful. It's available from Central Park Media, but get the 3 volume OVAs, not the movie, as too much is lost in the editing.
There's also NINJA RESSURECTION, which features the same historical character, Juubei, but it's not a continuation of the story. It has a very high body count and lots of violence. ADV Films is releasing this in the USA
And speaking of NINJA SCROLL and JUUBEI, there's the unusual JUUBEI-CHAN, which we're reviewing this issue. And before you think it's not like NINJA SCROLL at all, it has the same producer and the same animation studio (Madhouse) as NINJA SCROLL. Right now this is only available as an import, though.

More Kenshin
From: Victor Kim

Does anyone at EX know if Sony is planning on animating the Enishi story arc of RURONI KENSHIN, or any vague rumors to that effect? Given how popular the TV series was, and how good the OVA's are, I really hope they add a follow-up OVA series or something like that.
The latest issue is great! Please keep reviewing/previewing the latest shows airing in Japan because that's one of the many features of EX that I cannot find elsewhere on the 'net. Thanks.

We have not heard of any plans to do any additional RURONI KENSHIN, but considering the popularity of the series, it certainly wouldn't be surprising if they decided to do more. (Be sure to check the news section to see the latest about the manga version, however.)
And we plan on increasing the number of new Japanese shows we review, as long as we can keep up the pace. This issue, we have DUAL and JUUBEI-CHAN, as well as HIMIKO-DEN, all recent TV series.

Virtual Anime Expo Experience
From: Michelle Albillar

Hello! First off, I would just like to say that I love your online magazine! I love all the reviews you give on CDs, and anime series. You all must put many hours of work in creating these wonderful issues, and I must bow down to your greatness. ^_^
What really impresses me about your online magazine, is the extensive articles you had on Anime Expo 99. They made me feel like I was there, almost. I wish I couldn've gone, but alas, I have yet to visit an anime convention. Reading the articles that were written really made me dedicated to saving up for next year's convention. "The Anime Diet" was very funny, and I hope to be able to cut back on a lot of my anime spending, seeing as I would fit in the "Cold Turkey" section. Hopefully, it will work with me.
In closing, I would again like to say how wonderful your online magazine is, and I'm eagerly awaiting the next issue! ^_^

Thank you.
I've said it before, but it bears repeating: letters like this are what make all the long nights, missed sleep, and fatigue that goes along with doing this for so long.
Don't get me wrong—it's fun, and we do enjoy it, most of the time. It's just that sometimes we feel the need for a break, but it's hard to do because there's always the next issue to think about.
This year we decided to try and cover as much of Anime Expo as possible to really give the readers a chance to "feel" what the convention is like. Of course, there is so much to do and see that even if we wanted to, we couldn't cover it all.
And this issue has even MORE Expo coverage (because we couldn't fit it all into one issue), so hopefully you'll feel like you've been there again.

Poke-Subs?
From: DJ

I would like to know where I can get MEWTWO STRIKES BACK. And please don't tell me wait for it to come to the big screen because I know there are sub ones out there.

Well, I don't know of any fansubbed versions of POKÉMON (since it is essentially a kids show and wasn't very popular in the USA before the show began airing here), but there probably are some out there. We don't know where they are, though, since we don't keep track of the fan subtitlers and what they offer.

Did I Miss Something?
From: Jesper

I think you're mag is great but it needs something to help the reader browse through it a little easier. The shortcuts to the top issues and a few novelties are useful. I love the idea that you have in your grasp but when I look at it I think, IS there more? A contents page maybe? Or is that all that is there? If not then have a Letters to the Editor page where you pick out 5-10 e-mails or something?
You're mag is great but it can be better.

I'm not sure how you came to find EX, but it obviously wasn't through the "front door."
It doesn't seem like you spent that much time looking around, either. You mention the "shortcuts" at the tops of the issues. Did you notice the one that said "contents" that takes you to the (surprise!) Table of Contents? And I wonder if you'll ever see your letter in print because you weren't able to find the Letters page before...
Be sure to check out Scott Frazier's BEYOND TV SAFETY this month as he answers his own reader mail in his inimitable style.
