Shonen Sunday Update (continued)
MAJOR

Overview: Honda (Shigeno) Goro, from his early years in grade
school, has been striving to become a professional baseball player like
his deceased father. Now, in Kaidou high school, he is facing new
challenges.
This issue: Up against an
upper-class team, Goro's team is facing stiff odds. Their team's
pitcher (not Goro) is in serious trouble. Impatiently, Goro rushes out
to the mound with Satou's approval, but their new director sends him
back, saying it's her job to order pitcher changes, and besides, he's
only a "D-Class pitcher" (he'd gotten poor marks from the previous
director, who had a grudge against him). As the game degenerates, Goro
begins to practice his pitching in the bullpen, angrily showing off
just what he's capable of...
TENSHI NA NAMAIKI ("A CHEEKY ANGEL")

Overview: As a young boy, Amatsuka Megumi was magically
transformed into a pretty girl. Now a totally gorgeous high school
student, s/he and friend Miki are the only ones who know this, and
are busy fending off his/her admirers like big, tough Genzou.
This issue: Genzou, realizing his bad relations
with other punks has put Megumi in danger, is doing the manly thing
and has gone to his enemies with a white flag and a promise of
non-resistance. He hopes that, by beating him up, they will expend
their enmity and leave those around him alone. Megumi, Miki, and two
of Genzou's rivals come upon Genzou getting beaten up by the punks.
Even Genzou's rivals admire his actions, and wind up jumping in and
asking for mercy and forgiveness on his behalf. When even they start
getting beaten up, Genzou momentarily forgets his non-resistance. A
fracas ensues, and Megumi joins in. Afterward, she says she likes
those who act as true men.
KARAKURI CIRCUS

Overview: Masaru is a grade school boy who is the heir to a
vast fortune. Shirogane, a French woman who controls a powerful
puppet, is his bodyguard. Far away, their friend Narumi is becoming
embroiled in an ancient battle against evil living puppets.
This issue: Masaru has been targeted by a hired
assassin, an American named Vilma. She has succeeding in turning
Shirogane into a pincushion with her daggers, yet Shirogane,
strangely, fights on. Masaru's fighting spirit reminds Vilma of her
younger brother Jim, who died of Zonopha disease. At the last
moment, Vilma aims at Masaru, and misses againdeep within
herself, she no longer has the desire to really kill him. Masaru
convinces Shirogane (who is completely healed) to not kill the
defeated Vilma, and the half-conscious assassin is carted back
toward their circus camp...
TUXEDO GIN

Overview: Kusanagi Ginji is a young man in love with Sasebo
Minako, who also loves him. Due to a fatal motorcycle incident, Ginji
is reborn as a penguin and now must live out his natural life as
Minako's pet before he can return to his body....
This issue: On vacation on an
isolated island, Ginji is busy trying to defend himself and Minako
from the unruly and somewhat uncivilized Tetsuta (who is not only
starved for girls, but who also thinks Ginji looks tasty).
Unfortunately, when Tetsuta decides to trim back his messy hair, he
turns out looking just like a tanned version of human-form
Ginji...
SALAD DAYS

Overview: This is a series of short stories about romance.
This issue: Two good friends who
had both fallen in love with the same girl have discovered she has a
slimy boyfrienda rich young man who orders others around with
money. Due to a confrontation with him earlier, the two friends wind
up targeted by his paid minionsbut the two happen to be top
martial artists, and they quickly scare off the attackers. Their
romantic interest, meanwhile, slaps some sense into the rich boy and
tells him she believes he can once again be the cheerful and honest
boy she remembers. Our two heroes depart, bummed they'd lost her as a
potential girlfriend ... but they quickly find another girl they're
both interested in (again).
KAZE NO DENSHOUSHA (THE WIND OF FIGHT)

Overview: Fuuga Ippei is the lone boy in a martial arts family of
girls. As such, his strong-willed sisters treat him like dirt, yet are
trying to train him to be a man worthy of carrying on the family's school
of fighting.
This issue: The Fuuga family's matriarch has returned
just as the family faces a big, dangerous challenge from the nasty rival
school, the Akino Doujou. Leaving a frustrated Chiaki and youngest sister
to guard knocked-out Natsumi, Ippei, his mother, friend Itagaki, and
eldest sister Haruka set out for the Akino Doujou. They are met by their
first opposition, which Ippei easily dispatches. The master of the Akino
Doujou, an old man as unpleasant as his school, sees Ippei as excellent
fodder for the secret powerful technique called "Hou-ou"....
