WEEKLY
JUMP, rival publication of WEEKLY
SHONEN SUNDAY, is a "phone book" anthology published
every week, with a circulation over 4 million. It is filled
with some of today's hottest titles targeted for school age
boys, many of them familiar to anime fans. JUMP has among its esteemed alumni: DRAGON BALL, VIDEO GIRL
AI, CITY HUNTER, FIST OF THE NORTH STAR, KIMAGURE ORANGE ROAD, SAINT
SEIYA, SLAM DUNK, and YUU YUU HAKUSHO / POLTERGEIST REPORT.

ROMANCERS

Started in #44, 1999

Overview: Takara is a Romancer, a being that can make words come to
life. In his case, he can make any "lie" a lie in real life. He uses his
special talent to help people while searching for others like him.
This Issue4. A Freezing gaze - A girl repeatedly
accosts Wakisaka to have him investigate the reasons why her life is in
danger. Wakisaka refuses, but Takara is interested in what she has to say.
The girl, Maki, explains to Takara that she was adopted by a wealthy
family, and all the relatives started to shun her when her adoptive father
said she will inherit his assets. Takara promises to protect her. Meanwhile
another Romancer that uses his ability to make anything "freeze" as an
assassination tool is asked to kill Maki.
ZOMBIE POWDER

Overview: In this world, there is a powder called the Zombie Powder
that brings the dead back to life and gives the living eternal life. The
long journey for Elwood the pickpocket begins when he meets Akutabi Gamma,
a Powder Hunter in search of the 12 Rings of the Dead to acquire the Zombie
Powder. Gamma successfully gets the first ring. On their journey towards a
second ring, they meet Wolfina, an outrageous journalist who stops at
nothing for a good story...
This IssueTrack 13. Evergreen in the Birdgage -
Roscoe, the doctor, suggests that he operate on Emilio to take the Ring of
the Dead out of the boy's system. Gamma replies that if Roscoe tries to
separate the Ring and its host, the Ring will kill the doctor. Gamma also
says that Emilio should be moved out to spare the other patients before
Barmunk returns. Roscoe replies that he cannot put the patients of the other
hospital at risk, and will go on with the operation. In private, Roscoe
tells Gamma that Emilio is a host for the Ring because he fell off a tree
trying to get the ring to give to his sister Wolfina...and the reason that
she is a journalist was because in trying to get him to the hospital, the
shortest route to the hospital was closed off for some politician's campaign
speech. That night, Wolfina sneaks Emilio out of the hospital, thinking she
couldn't trouble Roscoe...
HIKARU NO GO

Overview: Hikaru was a normal elementary school student until the
spirit of Sai, an ancient master of go, became trapped in his body.
At first, Hikaru knew nothing of the game of go, but with Sai's
proddings and teaching of the basics, his own ability starts to blossom.
Hikaru, upon hearing that Akira has turned into a professional go
player, decides to apply to the league of people striving to become pros,
but that means he has to quit the go club at school.
This Issue42nd bout. To Each Their Own Decision -
Mitani gets upset that Hikaru would quit after dragging him into the club
so they could enter the tournament, and threatens to quit the club as well.
Just then, Kaga jumps in from the window to escape an angry teacher with
cigarette in hand. Upon hearing the situation, Kaga tells Hikaru to play
three go matches simultaneouslyone against him, one against
Mitani, and one against Tsutsuito prove that his goal really is to
turn pro. The four sit down and start to play.
SHAMAN KING

Overview: Asakura Yoh is a shaman who wishes to become the best of
the shamansthe Shaman King. Supported by his friend Manta and his
fiancée Anna, Yoh and his spirit-friend Amidamaru enter the Shaman
Fight in Tokyo, the tournament which will decide who the King will be. After
his devastating loss in the second match, Yoh went back to his homeland and
strengthened his abilities as a shaman. His third and last qualifying match,
a rematch with Tao Ren, is underway.
This Issue63rd revolution. It's Not Impossible -
Jun tells her father that her brother Ren will lose the match because Yoh
is a person that somehow creates something out of nothing, while Ren only
can deny and destroy. Meanwhile, Ren sets up for the final ultimate
attack...and Yoh prepares for the counterattack by putting more of his
powers into a larger Over-soul of Amidamaru.
HUNTER x HUNTER

Overview: Gon is a boy who dreamt of becoming a Hunter just like his
father Ging. Now that he and his friends Clapika and Reolio passed the Hunter
Qualifications Examination and became Hunters, they went their separate ways
in search of finding the answers to the questions that led them to become
Hunters. Gon decides to team up with Kirua, his friend from the Exam, and
they climb the Heavenly Arena, a tall tower where people fight for money.
The two 12-year-olds learn the energy-controlling art of Nen at the arena,
and Gon now faces Hisoka, his rival from the Qualifications Exam.
This IssueNo.062. Real Strength - Gon manages a
clean hit onto Hisoka's jaw to gain the lead. He then returns the
number-plate from the Qualificaions Exam (which Hisoka told Gon to keep
until the boy could slug him in the face). Hisoka laughs and tells Gon that
the boy is a user of fortification Nen because he is simple-minded, while he
is a user of shapeshifting Nen (who are often whimsical liars). With that
said, Hisoka launches an attack at a speed much faster than before. While
Gon thinks of an effective way to fight, he gets caught by a strand of
Hisoka's Nen...
