MEIRYOUTEI GOTO SEIJUROU
by Kazu Hajime
Started in #52, 1997 (8 volumes available)

Overview: Goto Seijurou is the reckless, violent student body president of Meiryou High School. He is so feared that his nickname is Meiryoutei ("Emperor of Meiryou"). But the Nijou siblings aren't happy about Seiji's ruthless role as president, and they plan to recall his position and make it theirs. Seijurou challenges them to a deathmatch as a means of settling the score...but Nijou brings Munenaga and Kiichi to the ring.
This Issue—Ballot 90. Four Kings vs Four Kings - Seijurou asks the two on the other side if they decided for themselves to side against him. The two agree, and Seiji has nothing more to say...but Eiji has something against the idea, and drags Takumi onto the ring. Seijurou tries to drag them off, but Takumi and Eiji tag-team to knock Seiji out with a sleep-choker. While the four battle it out, Rihei and his inventions struggle to regain Seijurou's consciousness.

ONE PIECE
by Oda Eiichiro
Started in #34, 1997 (10 volumes available)

Overview: Monkey D. Luffy is a boy set out to sail the Grand Line, find the legendary treasure One Piece, and become the king of pirates. His small crew consists of swordsman Roronoa Zorro, navigator/cartographer Nami, gunner "Captain" Usopp and chef Sanji. The five, after an eventful stop at Logue Town, manage to get themselves on the Grand Line, a navigational route where anything can happen. Luffy decides to give two shaggadelic and suspicious individuals a lift back to Whiskey Peak, and there await the bounty hunters of Baroque Works. Zorro stands up by himself against the whole group...
This Issue—Episode 109. Problem of Responsibility - Of the 100 bounty hunters, only Mr.8, Mr.9 and Miss Wednesday remain. As Zorro continues to fight the three bounty hunters (whose tactics are rather questionable in effectiveness), he feels ashamed to be fighting a bunch of loonies. Mr.9 manages to grab Zorro's left arm with an iron wire, and Mr.8 gets set to fire cannons (from his hair, no less) as Miss Wednesday holds Luffy hostage. Zorro pulls the wire and swings Mr.9 into Miss Wednesday, then bounces off of Luffy's overstuffed belly to reach and slash Mr.8.

I"S
by Katsura Masakazu
Started in #19, 1997 (11 volumes available)

Overview: This is a story about Seto Ichitaka and his love life. Now that Ichitaka and his long-time crush Iori have realized their feelings for each other, he thought things would go smoothly from then on. Everything seemed to go well for Ichitaka except lack of quality time with Iori, who was now a budding actress...but that lack of time always kept him in doubt. He decides to move out of his house and into an apartment, where he meets his new neighbor: a cute girl.
This Issue—Episode 118. Spare Key - Ichitaka idly turns on the TV to see Iori in a press conference for a new drama series. Seeing her with a new haircut and makeup, he feels more than ever that his distance from her is only growing now that she is a "celebrity" and he couldn't go on a date with her in public. Meanwhile, his neighbor visits him to apologize for slapping his face the night before. Ichitaka suggests that she make a spare key in case she loses her key again, and she replies that she doesn't know any key shops. Ichitaka ends up taking her around the neighborhood to help her make a spare key. But as they are going back to their apartments, Iori is looking for Ichitaka's apartment and spots him with his neighbor.

HOUSHIN ENGI
by Fujisaki Ryu, based on the translation by Anou Tsutomu
Started in #28, 1996 (16 volumes available)

Overview: Taikoubou is a sennin (a wizard of sorts) sent on a mission to seal away the souls of the evil temptress Datsuki and her henchmen. She is ruining the land of Chouka by controlling its emperor. But this project, called the Houshin Project, had to do with more than just Datsuki's whims—and evolved into an armageddon between the sennin of Kongrong and those of Kingou. The war has ended, but with too many sacrifices on both sides. Taikoubou manages to find Taikouroukun and get the needed upgrade on his Paopei (magical weapon of sorts), the Dashinben, and rejoins his troops in the fight against Chouka.
This Issue—Episode 158. Battle at Mench Castle (finale) ~ The Teachings of Taijouroukun - Taikoubou appears and sets forth with his new Dashinben powered up with Taikyokuzu. A mantra of characters appear from the wand and disappear into the ground. While Kouranei quickly does away with Dokouson when he makes a move on her (which also sparks the wrath of Tousengyoku), Choukei attempts to bury Taikoubou in a ton of dirt. Taikoubou, with a whisk of his powered-up wand, moves the dirt back to the ground and explains that the power of Taikyokuzu is to work as an Anti-Paopei—that is, to undo what the various Paopei do. Choukei tells Taikoubou that he still cannot be forgiven for the death of Bunchu; Taikoubou replies that Choukei is clueless and offers to take him to the Houshindai where all the sealed souls rest.
