The EX Holiday Gift Guide: Import Anime (continued)
Maria Rider: MAHO TSUKAI TAI TV Vol. 1 (DVD). The magical hijinx continues to the television as Swanoguchi Sae and her friends in the Magic Club battle against the weird alien invaders. Just as hilarious and fun as the OAV series, MAHO TSUKAI TAI TV is great for MTT fans! Keith Rhee: GAOGAIGAR DVD Box Sets. Hailed by many as the mighty king of the Sunrise Brave shows, this feel-good series with an attitude is now available in its entirety on DVD. Final Fusion! Rika Takahashi: SENKAIDEN HOUSHIN ENGI. I'm eagerly awaiting DVDs for this anime version of the manga based on the chinese story, especially to see new and different concepts/changes they made from the manga (which already is different from the original story). And the new SOL BIANCA OVA series TAIYOU NO FUNE is a must-buy if you like the art style from the images seen in anime magazines (it looks gorgeous when it's moving), and it'll be released worldwide really soon! Next up: Domestic Anime! Charles McCarter: OUTLAW STAR and NADESICO. Science Fiction is in season again, and these two series are some of the best available. (So of course, is COWBOY BEBOP). There's lots to choose from if Sci-fi is your thing. Kenneth Lee: COWBOY BEBOP TV series. The best anime of the year gets translated into English (w/ subtitles)! Futuristic, space adventure, with bounty hunters. With character designs by Kawamoto Toshihiro (GOLDEN BOY), stunning jazz and blues music by Kanno Yoko (MACROSS PLUS, ESCAFLOWNE), and animation to die for, by Sunrise. Super-slick style, wonderful atmosphere and film direction so well-blended that there's nothing else to say except "Buy COWBOY BEBOP. Now." Highest Recommendation. Mark Johnson: Since I own about everything I want from this year's lineup (including preordering the FUSHIGI YUGI DVD Box), I'll ask for a pre-order of the TRIGUN DVD series from Pioneer. I have been impressed with what I have seen so far with it, with its humor, while reminisent of SLAYERS, has a style all its own. Rika Takahashi: I'll put in a vote for the FUSHIGI YUGI DVD Box. And as an ardent fan of the series, I hope Pioneer releases TRIGUN in the form of dual-language DVDs. Outlaw Star Copyright © Morning Star, Sunrise/Shueisha, Sotsu Agency.
