TENSHI NA KONAMAIKI ("A CHEEKY ANGEL")
by Nishimori Hiroyuki

Overview: As a young boy, Amatsuka Megumi was magically
transformed into a pretty girl. Now a totally gorgeous high school
student, s/he and friend Miki are the only ones who know this, and
are busy fending off his/her admirers.
This Issue: Megumi, still apparently under a
curse, is explaining why she trains in the martial arts: she wants
to be the strongest in the world, a dream she's had since she was a
little boy. Only Kobayashi (the handsome, intelligent, cool guy of
the devoted admirers) seems to sympathize. The others invite
themselves over to Kobayashi's house, despite his protests. It turns
out that Kobayashi's house is a dojobut not only that, a
treacherously dangerous place where Kobayashi is constantly being
targeted, trained and tested so that he may become a real
samurai-style warrior. Everyone else mocks this concept, but
frighteningly enough, Megumi appears to be deeply impressed by
this idea.

KARAKURI CIRCUS
by Fujita Kazuhiro

Overview: Masaru is a grade school boy who is the heir to
a vast fortune. Shirogane, a French woman who controls a powerful
puppet, is his bodyguard. Far away, their friend Narumi is
becoming embroiled in an ancient battle against evil living puppets.
This Issue: Shirogane and Nakamachi, the boss of
the Nakamachi circus, have gone to ask a favor of old Ubukata Houan,
grandfather to Masaru's classmate Ryouko, and a man who was long
ago betrayed by the Nakamachi circus. He kicks them out, but
Shirogane must first rescue him from a pile of collapsing junk.
Ryouko sees that the old man's fiery spirit returned to him when he
shouted at the visitors, even though he firmly denies wanting to help
his old circus. However, her own parents are strictly against anything
to do with the circus, and want her to go the path of academia. The
next day, Ryouko is awakened by more of her grandfather's shouting.
Masaru and Shirogane have arrived in an offer to clean up the mess
from the previous day.

KATTE NI KAIZOU
by Kumeta Kouji

Overview: This is a gag series about a gullible high school
boy lost in a dream world of science-fiction conspiracies and alien
invasions that exist only in his own mind.
This Issue: Today's episode "explores" the concept
of those who sink to the challenges of lifemeaning people who
embrace the concept that they'd rather be a big fish in a little pond
than a small fish in a big pond. These are people like Umi, who plays
with grade school kids to make herself feel bigger and stronger. Or
like those would-be anime artists who wind up making cheap anime
posters for their local businesses; yes indeed, their art stands out
when seen in such limited, non-challenging surroundings. Then Chitan
takes today's lesson and tries to apply it by first picking on small
kids (and getting beaten up), then dogs (and losing) and so on until
at last he tries to rule over a colony of ants, which promptly turn
him into a human slave.

RECCA NO HONOO
by Anzai Nobuyuki

Overview: Recca is a fire-wielding high school freshman
ninja. He and his friends, who are aligned with the four elements,
are up against a new evil...
This Issue: Recca is hearing from his real father,
the last fire dragon to be mastered, of how he, as a young ninja
named Ouka, met the previous incarnation of Yanagi. Yanagi's previous
life was that of a lovely princess named Sakura. Ouka's ninja clan
fought on the side of Sakura's family's troops, trying to save the
princess from the clutches of the evil, murderous and twisted
Takasugi Masakane. But in the great battle, Sakura's beloved Koheita
is slain. And even though one of the enemy's strongest ninja is slain
by Ouka, the battle is being won by Takasugi's side. At last, her
father dead, Sakura dons the ceremonial garments of death and, after
asking Ouka to guard her house from Takasugi's troops, she quietly
withdraws into her chambers to set fire to the house and commit
suicide so that Takasugi will never be able to claim either her body
or soul. Ouka, feeling powerless, unable to save her life or her
heart, can only agree to her request and wish her peace. Now, deeply
enraged, he goes out to face the approaching army.
