" I know all about the danger...
I'm used to walking a tightrope."
—Trowa Barton

As the conflict on Earth dies down, the United Earth Sphere Alliance is formed to establish peace between warring nations, and after enrolling the countries on Earth, the Alliance forcibly extends their rule to space against the colonies' will. To peacefully oppose the Alliance, the colonists choose the charismatic Heero Yuy as their leader, and his message of peace and non-aggression is received favorably by many nations on Earth.
But when Heero Yuy is assassinated by a lone gunman, the colonies are thrown into turmoil, and the Alliance seizes the opportunity by sending in the mobile suit corps under the pretense of restoring order to the colonies. The colonies are placed under military supervision, and all communication between colonies is prohibited to prevent future collaborative efforts.
Although its original mission was to bring peace, the Alliance soon rules over both Earth and space with an iron fist, and anyone who opposes the New World Order is crushed with ruthless force. One such victim was the Sanc Kingdom, an advocate of Yuy's way of pacifism. As the Alliance overruns this peaceful nation, the capital falls in one day, and King Peacecraft is killed in the conflict. Although his trusted aide Darlian manages to rescue the young Princess, Prince Milliardo goes missing.
With the attempt at a peaceful resolution thwarted with the death of Heero

Yuy, the rebel forces within the colonies opt for a more forceful approach. As a part of Operation Meteor, the colony clusters from each Lagrange point send a pilot to Earth, each armed with a state-of-the-art fighting machine known as the Gundam. The Gundams descend on Earth to wage guerrilla warfare against the tyrannical Earth Alliance; as a symbolic gesture, the pilot of the Wing Gundam is codenamed after their martyred leader.
He is the boy known as Heero Yuy.

Next: We need Gundams. Lots of Gundams.
