YU-GI-OH!
by Takahashi Kazuki
Started in #42, 1996 (18 volumes available)

Overview: When Mutou Yuugi solved the Millenium Puzzle, he developed a second "dark" personality who excelled at gaming. Now, the two faces of Yuugi are working together to win the latest Magic & Wizards CCG tournament—with the ultimate prize for them being memories of dark Yuugi from his past life. Marik, one of the guardians of Yuugi's past life, challenges him. Can Yuugi win against Marik and his virtually impenetrable card combination?
This Issue—Battle 174: God's Combination - Marik's Saint Dragon - The God of Osiris with 5 cards in hand (5000 off / 5000 def) defeats Yuugi's Buster Blader (2600+500 / 2300) and drops Yuugi's LP down to 2100. Yuugi sacrifices his Kuriboh to summon Black Magician Girl (2000 / 1700) in defensive mode—but Osiris can inflict a 2000-point damage to newly summoned monsters. Yuugi manages to keep her alive using the Magical Silk Hat that he had reversed. Yuugi further places two reversed cards on the field and ends his turn. Marik smiles as he places the eternal magic Infitite Hand (which removes the 8-card limit in his hand) to complete his combination and attacks the Silk Hat with the Girl. Yuugi had hidden a Magic Cylinder trap (which sends a monster or any attack straight back at the opponent) and Hexagram Bind (which lowers the offensive points by 700), but the attack never reaches Osiris as the Slime takes damage, regenerates, and Marik takes three more cards in hand (to make 8). All magic against Osiris works only for one turn, and in Marik's next turn the dragon (now at 9000 off) destroys the Girl. Yuugi sees no way to win against this combination... but Seto arrives at the scene to say that there is a way for Yuugi to win against the God.
