INUYASHA
by Takahashi Rumiko

Overview: Kagome is a modern student teamed up with the strange boy
Inuyasha in 15th or 16th
century Japan, seeking to retrieve the fragments of the magical Shikon No
Tama, and trying to stay one step ahead of the evil Naraku.
This Issue: Inuyasha and friends are up against Naraku's
latest creations: Kageroumaru and Jyuuroumaru. The former is a tiny,
praying-mantis-like creature with incredible speed; the latter is his
mindless, puppet-like "brother." Both share the same facial features and
long hair, though Jyuuroumaru's expression is distinctly vacant. None of our
heroes are fast enough to stand up to Kageroumaru; in fact, it takes the
unexpected arrival of wolf-boy Kouga to save Kagome from an attack so fast
she hadn't even noticed it.

MAJOR
by Mitsuda Takuya

Overview: Honda (Shigeno) Gorou, from his early years in grade
school, has been striving to become a professional baseball player like
his deceased father. Now, in Kaidou high school, he is facing new
challenges.
This Issue: Shizuka and Gorou are observing the elite
Kaidou team practice. Gorou is astounded when he realizes Shizuka knows
where every batter will put the ball: each batter can very deliberately
and precisely drive the ball to specific points on the field. Gorou also
gets to see the first rank's ace pitcher: "gyro baller" Enomoto Naoki.
Rather than being overwhelmed by the display of power and precision, Gorou
is excited by the challenge. Later, Shizuka, seeing his honest
determination to demolish Kaidou's first rank, is reminded of her brother
and his entry into a then-unknown Kaidou for the purpose of defeating the
"big ones." She earnestly tells Gorou to try his best; she has at last
accepted him and his vision.
