Panzer Dragoon OVA

While in Japan, the Editor in Chief visited Production I.G and was treated to a sneak peek at the PANZER DRAGOON OVA, which had just been completed. This video is a mix of computer and traditional cel animation. Some scenes have a very 3D feel, in keeping with the video game; it is an interesting blend of the two types of animation. It goes on sale some time in 4th quarter of 1996.

TENCHI MUYO IN LOVE To Make U.S. TV Premiere

On August 26, 1996, TENCHI MUYO IN LOVE, the feature-length TENCHI movie, will be shown on the Sci-Fi Channel. "Ghost" sales are solid

GHOST IN THE SHELL placed #22 on VBM's "Top Sellers of the Week" chart, which compares average sales per store for various titles at 7,600 video retailing locations across the US. GHOST has been as high as #4 on this chart during the six weeks it has stayed on the chart. For the week GHOST placed #22, it had sold an average of 9.9 videos per location - if you do your math, this is close to 76,000 videos for the video market alone (for most companies an anime video is considered a smash hit if it exceeds 25,000 videos sold).

AnimEigo licenses Crusher Joe!

AnimEigo has acquired the license to the Crusher Joe movie and OVAs.
Crusher Joe is a team leader with the Crushers, galactic problem-solvers who will take on almost any job within the law. He's a bit of a rebel, hot-tempered and brave, and has a stormy relationship with his father, Crusher Dan, who as head of the Crusher Conference, is also his boss.
In the movie, we get to follow the adventures of Joe and his crack team as they get in deep trouble with the police, deal with corrupt politicians and go after space pirates with doomsday weapons during the "routine" transport of a cyrogenically-frozen heiress! Will Joe and the Crushers be in time to save the galaxy? It's non-stop action in this beautifully animated space opera!
The two tape series from AnimEigo is expected to be released in the 1st Quarter of 1997. The first tape will be the movie, Crusher Joe (125 Min.) and the second will be the OVAs, Crusher Joe:The Ice Hell and Crusher Joe:Last Weapon Ash (102 Min. combined). AnimEigo plans to release Subtitled VHS ($34.95), Dubbed in English VHS ($29.95) and Laserdisc ($39.95) versions of each offering.
