NORMANDY HIMITSU CLUB
by Itoh Mikio
Started in #24, 2000 (1 volume available)

Overview: Kurubushi Rodin is a member of Club Mongoose (Normandy High School's Manga-drawing Club). This club is a bunch of weirdos (well, they are!) led by the strange but charismatic Kaburagi Seishun. Rodin was hesitant at first about joining the club, but now he is quite at home. However, the student council president (who isn't too fond of Seishun) decided to get rid of a few extracurricular activities, including Club Mongoose. Seishun's quick wits led to an all-student election to vote on whether or not Club Mongoose will live on; but the president's bait of an Internet room works and the election results show a landslide loss for Club Mongoose.
This Issue—Episode 26: Forsaken By All - All the students are saying how they voted against Club Mongoose because they wanted their Internet room. However, the students start feeling guilty when they see Seishun look so depressed; yet the results are the results. Seishun admits defeat much to the president's delight, but Rodin starts sketching the faces of fellow Club Mongoose members. As he keeps sketching, tears start to flow—this further makes the students feel guilty about their choice. The president, trying to prevent a reversal of the vote, says that the result was determined by popular vote and can't be overturned. But the students speak up and mention how the student body president has a special authorization once during his term to command something that cannot be overturned no matter what. Now, the students are clamoring for the president to use this and prevent Club Mongoose from disbanding...

YU-GI-OH!
by Takahashi Kazuki
Started in #42, 1996 (22 volumes available)

Overview: When Mutou Yuugi solved the Millennium Puzzle, he developed a second "dark" personality who excelled at gaming. Now, the two faces of Yuugi are working together to win the latest Magic & Wizards CCG tournament, with the ultimate prize for them being memories of dark Yuugi from his past life. Marik, one of the guardians of Yuugi's past life, repeatedly challenges him. The current challenge involves Yuugi's friends—will he be able to save both himself and his friend Jounouchi from drowning to their doom?
This Issue—Battle 197: The One Card of Life and Death! - Less than ten minutes left. Jounouchi has 2400LP, Yuugi has 700LP and his Red Eyes has only 900 attack points. Jounouchi draws a Devil Dice and Marik commands him to stay silent and wait for time to pass. Yuugi tells Jounouchi that their promise made in the duelists' kingdom arc hasn't been fulfilled—that Jounouchi still hasn't faced his sister Shizuka after her surgery. That voice wakes up Jounouchi's instinct, and he puts down two reverse cards and a Panther Warrior. Yuugi puts the Elemental Mirror facedown and attacks with the Gilfer Demon. The two trap (dice) cards are opened, while Yuugi nullifies the Angel Dice. The Devil Dice fails to decrease the Demon's offense, and Jounouchi's LP falls to 700. While Yuugi seeks a way to tie by both of them losing all LP in the same turn, Kaiba manages to rescue Mokuba and head towards the duel. Jounouchi draws Death Meteor (1000pt damage directly to opponent's LP), and with only three minutes left, what will he do?
