ADV's GASARAKI To Make August Debut
1998's GASARAKI, a political
drama with heavy mecha action, will officially hit U.S.
stores on 8 Aug 2000, according
to ADV Films Public Relations/Advertising Manager
Andrew Conant. Initially available on VHS, the first
volume with 100 minute runtime will retail for MSRP
$19.98 for dubbed version and $29.95
for the subtitled version. A DVD format will follow
later.

Japanese ESCAFLOWNE movie premiere promoted by new radio drama
The 216-seat Shibuya Cinema Palace in Tokyo will
hold the first public Japanese premiere of THE VISION OF
ESCAFLOWNE THE MOVIE: A GIRL IN GAEA in late
July. This will follow the American premiere at Anime Expo 2000.
In related news, Sunrise
will promote the movie by airing a new CD-length radio
drama on FM Osaka starting May 22nd.

ESCAFLOWNE movie cast announced
Sunrise announced the
cast for the Escaflowne movie, which is scheduled to premiere in Japan in
early summer and in the United States at Anime
Expo 2000. Sakamoto Maaya (Kanzaki Hitomi), Seki
Tomokazu (Van Fanel), Iizuka Mayumi (Yukari), Nakata Jouji (Folken Fanel),
Miki Shinichiroh (Allen Schezar), and Takayama Minami (Dilandau Albatou) will
reprise their original roles from the 1996 television
series. Iizuka will also play a new movie character named Sora, an enchanting
beast-girl who calls Hitomi to Gaea.
Sunrise also announced the winners of an open audition for
two more characters. Takeda Aki will play Millerna, a role originated by Iizuka
in the television series. Kawano Kensuke will play "Deuon," a new Dragon
Slayers character. Ohtsuka Sayuri, the only female final candidate auditioning
for Deuon, was casted in an alternate role of a village child. Sunrise conducted
the dialogue recording for the movie between February 5 and

MACROSS PLUS Movie, DYNAMITE
7 coming to Japanese DVD
Bandai Visual will release MACROSS PLUS MOVIE EDITION
and MACROSS DYNAMITE 7 on DVD
in Japan under its Emotion
Video label. Both are follow-up titles to THE SUPER DIMENSION
FORTRESS MACROSS television series (1982-1983). MACROSS
PLUS MOVIE EDITION and the first half of the four-installment
DYNAMITE 7 series will retail at
¥7,800 each on July 25.
Manga Entertainment, the North American
licensee of MACROSS PLUS, has not announced plans to
release the movie edition on DVD.
